Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman at the 9/11 Memorial Sports Center

Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman visited the 9/11 Memorial Sports Center on Monday March 31st. She talked with the children about doing nice things for other people, and especially to thank our men and women in service.



Keane Foundation Kid’s Vacation Day Program

KIDS VACATION GYM DAY’S at the 9/11 Memorial Sports Center (at the Pitkin Community Center) have become an exciting destination for kids during vacation! Younger children enjoy games, music and parachute play. Older kids love the kickball, dodge ball and basketball pick-up games. Other impromptu games are also fun.
The fee is $1.00 per child, additional donations welcome! Registration is required! To enroll your child use this REGISTRATION FORM print it and bring it in on the vacation day.

9:00 am. - 10:00 am. : Parent & Toddler. (Max 30)
(2-4 year olds)

Enjoy pop up tents, tunnels to explore, riding and push toys, and try
other fun toddler activities with your child.

10:30 am. – Noon: 5 to 7 year olds. (Max 60)

Drop your child off for some free play and organized games like Kick Ball, Basketball, Freeze Tag and other fun games!

1:00pm. - 3:00 pm. : 8 to 12 year olds. (Max 60)

Drop your child off for Basketball, Dodge Ball, try Boxing and other games in the gym. Also, the Computer Room will be open for Computer fun!



FREE Open Gym Saturdays
At The 9/11 Memorial Sports Center

From now through April 5th please join us on Saturdays for a free Basketball and more at the 9/11 Memorial Center (at the Pitkin Community Center). Over the past few weeks children have enjoyed playing pick-up games of basketball, dodgeball, and kickball at all skill levels.
Families have joined in the fun! One parent said, “I felt like a kid again!!”. At the discretion of the staff, age group times may be shared.

  • Grades 7 & 8

Grades K-3: 10:30 am. - Noon

Grades 4-6: 12:30 pm. – 2:00 pm.

Grades 7 & 8: 2:00 pm. – 3:30 pm.

2014 Program dates:
1/4, 1/11, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29 ( No afternoon program), and 4/5.

Keane Foundation After School Program

Children in grades 3-6 from all 5 Elementary Schools in Wethersfield can register to come join the fun after school on Mondays and Tuesdays. The program is held in the 9/11 Memorial Sports Center at the William J. Pitkin Community Center, 30 Greenfield Street, from 3:00-5:30 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays from February 3rd through March 18th and March 31st through May 13th (No program on days school is cancelled or not in session).
Those who enroll in the Keane Foundation after school program, can start their homework, have a snack and spend hours of fun in the Gym, Fitness Center and on Computers in the Classroom.

Transportation is provided from public elementary schools to the program!

The supervised program will include: Homework Help, Computer Games and SmartBoard play and instruction, as well as Sports, Fitness Programs and Open Gym. This is an opportunity for kids to try new things, and to just have fun after school! Staff includes teachers and recreation professionals. The fee is $30/Residents, $40/Non-Residents, per program.
